Browser & Device Requirements
Before you install the LigoAI Chrome extension, check that your browser and device can run it. The short version: a desktop or laptop with an up-to-date Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Supported
Browsers
- Google Chrome (recommended)
- Microsoft Edge
Devices
- Desktop and laptop computers running Windows, macOS or Linux
These are the setups we test on and fully support.
Other Chromium browsers (Brave, Opera, Arc)
Brave, Opera and Arc are built on Chromium, the same engine as Chrome, so the extension can install on them. They are not part of our tested setup, so we cannot guarantee them or fully support them if something breaks.
- Brave and Opera support the browser side panel that LigoAI uses, so the extension generally works.
- Arc installs the extension, but the LigoAI side panel may not open or may behave differently. If you have problems, switch to Chrome or Edge.
Not supported
- Firefox and Safari. They use a different extension system.
- Phones. Mobile browsers cannot run browser extensions. This is a browser limitation.
- Tablets, including iPads. Same limitation as phones.
- Chromebooks. They may work, but we do not test or support them.
What you need
- A LigoSocial account. Create one at https://app.ligosocial.com/auth, or click Create one on the extension's sign-in screen.
- An up-to-date Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop. The extension uses the browser's side panel, which older browser versions do not have.
- A LinkedIn account.
- An internet connection.
The first time you open the extension:
- Click the LigoAI icon in the toolbar to open the side panel.
- Sign in with your LigoSocial email: click Send Code, then enter the 6-digit code from your inbox and click Verify. There is no password.
- If we do not have your LinkedIn profile yet, you will see Connect your LinkedIn. Paste your LinkedIn profile URL and click Continue.
Check your browser version
Chrome: type chrome://version/ in the address bar and press Enter.
Edge: type edge://version/ in the address bar and press Enter.
There is no specific minimum version to remember. Keep your browser updated; it gives you the best compatibility and security.
Using an unsupported browser?
Option 1: switch. Install Google Chrome, import your bookmarks if you want, and add the LigoAI extension there.
Option 2: use both. Keep your usual browser for everything else and use Chrome or Edge just for LinkedIn and LigoAI.
What the extension needs
When you install it, Chrome asks you to approve what the extension can do. LigoAI needs to:
- Read and work with LinkedIn pages, so it can write comments, save leads and read posts you choose
- Read pages on Medium, Substack, Reddit and YouTube, so you can save them as inspiration or repurpose them
- Talk to LigoSocial's servers to sign you in and generate content
- Store your sign-in on your computer
- Add right-click menu items on LinkedIn, such as 💬 Generate Comments
- Copy text to your clipboard when you click copy
- Open its side panel
FAQ
Why not Firefox or Safari? They use different extension systems. Supporting them would mean building and maintaining a separate version of the extension.
Will there be a mobile version? Browser extensions cannot run on phones or tablets, and a mobile app is not on our current roadmap.
I have Chrome but the extension won't install. Check that you are:
- On a desktop or laptop, not a phone
- Installing from the official Chrome Web Store page
- Signed in to Chrome with a Google account
- Not in an Incognito window
Does it work on a work computer? Usually, as long as Chrome or Edge is installed and up to date, your IT team allows browser extensions, and your network does not block LinkedIn, the Chrome Web Store or ligosocial.com.
Getting help
- Check your setup against the requirements above.
- Try the other supported browser (Chrome or Edge).
- Work through the Chrome extension quick fix guide.
- Still stuck on a supported setup? In the extension, open the More menu at the end of the tab bar and choose Contact Support. In the web app, click Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then Contact Support. Or email [email protected].
