Setting Up LinkedIn Posting Permissions for Delegates

4 min readUpdated Oct 9, 2026

If teammates (delegates) will publish to LinkedIn for you, your own LinkedIn account has to be connected to LigoSocial first. Delegates post through your connection; they cannot connect or reconnect LinkedIn for you. This guide is for account owners setting up delegates, and for delegates whose posts are failing.

Delegate access is available on plans that include it; see Billing in the app.

Step 1: Connect your LinkedIn account (owner only)

  1. Sign in to LigoSocial with your own account, not as a delegate.
  2. Open Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then go to Settings, or open https://app.ligosocial.com/settings#integrations.
  3. Click Integrations in the settings menu.
  4. In the Connect Accounts card, find LinkedIn and click Connect.
  5. Approve access on LinkedIn.

When it works, the LinkedIn row shows Connected as: with your name, and the date the connection expires.

If a delegate opens the same page, they see Delegate Access with "Please login from the primary account to connect LinkedIn". That is expected: only the owner can connect LinkedIn.

Step 2: Invite your delegates

Only invite delegates once LinkedIn shows as connected.

  1. In Settings, click Share Account Access. (On a phone, you can also open the menu and use ACCOUNT > Delegate Access.)
  2. In Manage Account Access, click Invite Delegate.
  3. Enter their Email and choose a role:
    • Admin (Full access)
    • Editor (Can manage content)
    • Viewer (View-only access): can look but cannot schedule or publish
  4. Click Send Invitation.

Give Editor or Admin to anyone who needs to publish. For a full walkthrough of roles, see Understanding LiGo's delegate access feature.

How delegates work in your account

Once a delegate accepts, they open your workspace from the account menu at the bottom of their sidebar: click it, choose Switch Account, and pick your account (shown with their role, for example Editor Access). While they are in your account, a DELEGATE badge is shown.

Anything they publish or schedule goes out on your LinkedIn profile through your connection.

Keep the connection active

LinkedIn connections expire after a while, and then nobody, including your delegates, can publish until you reconnect.

  • Watch the expiry date. The LinkedIn row in Settings > Integrations shows "Expires on" with a date. In the last 7 days it turns amber and says "Expires in N days".
  • Look out for our email. We email the account owner a few days before the connection expires.
  • Renew in one click. When the connection is close to expiring or has expired, the button changes to Refresh Connection. Click it and approve access on LinkedIn again. If it shows LinkedIn Connection Expired, reconnect the same way.

Only the owner can renew. If you are a delegate, ask the owner to do it.

Agencies managing clients can use Remind on the Agency Dashboard to send a client a LinkedIn reconnect reminder.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to do
Publishing fails with "You LinkedIn connection has been expired, please connect your LinkedIn account again" The owner's LinkedIn connection has expired. The owner reconnects in Settings > Integrations, then the delegate retries the post from Failed in the Publishing Hub.
A post is in LigoSocial but not on LinkedIn Check the Failed tab in the Publishing Hub, then check the LinkedIn connection in Settings > Integrations and reconnect if needed.
The delegate cannot schedule or publish at all Their role is probably Viewer. The owner changes it to Editor or Admin in Share Account Access.
The delegate sees "Please login from the primary account to connect LinkedIn" Expected. Only the owner can connect LinkedIn.

Contact support

If the problem continues, click the round Contact Support button at the bottom right of the screen (on a computer), or click Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then Contact Support. You can also email [email protected]. Include the exact error message, who was publishing (owner or delegate), and a screenshot if you can.
