Choosing Example Posts for Your Theme
Example posts teach LigoBrain how a theme should sound. Your theme says what to write about; the example posts show how to write it: tone, sentence length, structure, how you open and how you close. This guide explains where to add them, how many you need, and how to pick ones that make your drafts sound like you.
LigoBrain already learns from your LinkedIn profile and past posts. Example posts let you fine-tune the voice for one theme, for example a theme for story posts that should read differently from your hot takes.
How many you need
- At least 3. With fewer than 3, the Generate Post Ideas button reads Add N More Posts to Generate and stays unavailable.
- At most 5. If you try to add a sixth, you will see Post limit reached.
The Writing Style & Voice panel in the theme editor shows your progress as N/5 Trained.
When you create a new theme, LigoSocial may add 3 example posts for you automatically, taken from your best-performing LinkedIn posts (or from sample posts if you do not have enough of your own). You will see a Writing Style Identified message. Review them and swap any that do not fit the theme.
Where to add example posts
- Open the Content Themes page: in the default sidebar click Create Post > Explore themes, or go to https://app.ligosocial.com/themes-library. In the Classic layout it is WRITE > Content Themes.
- On the theme's card, open its menu and choose Edit.
- In the Writing Style & Voice panel on the right, click Add Your Best Posts (or Teach LigoBrain Your Style if the theme has no examples yet).
- The Refine Your Style panel opens with three tabs:
- My Top Posts: your best-performing LinkedIn posts. Click + on a post to add it.
- Expert Library: hand-picked creators with different writing styles. Click Explore Style on a creator to see their posts, then add the ones you like.
- Selected (N): the posts you have added. Here you can also use Add from scratch to paste any post you like and click Save Style. Under Currently Calibrating With you can view, copy or remove each selected post.
- When you have 3 to 5 posts, click Finish Calibration.
How to choose good examples
If you like how you already write
Use your own posts. They give the most authentic result.
- Pick posts that did well and that you are proud of.
- Pick posts that sound like you do now. Prefer the last 6 to 12 months.
- Include a mix of formats you use, such as a story, a list and a how-to.
If you are new to LinkedIn or want a new style
- Browse the Expert Library for a style close to how you want to sound.
- Paste posts from LinkedIn creators you admire with Add from scratch.
- Focus on their style and structure, not their topics. LigoBrain applies the style to your theme's topics.
- Swap in your own posts as you write ones you are happy with.
Match the theme where you can
Examples close to your theme's subject, audience and depth give better drafts. A perfect style match on a different topic is still worth keeping, but a post about something completely unrelated can bring in habits that do not fit. If your theme is about engineering leadership, a leadership post from another field works better than a post about travel.
Common mistakes
- Examples that clash. Very different tones in one theme confuse the voice. Keep some consistency, even across different formats.
- Bland examples. Posts with no point of view give LigoBrain little to learn from. Choose posts with a clear voice.
- Only one kind of post. Five short motivational posts produce only short motivational drafts. Mix lengths and structures.
- Very old posts. Your style has probably moved on. Use recent ones.
Three typical setups
An established creator. Add your 3 to 5 strongest posts that match the theme, mixing personal stories and client stories so drafts have range.
Someone just starting. Pick 3 to 5 posts from the Expert Library or from creators you admire that sit close to your topics. Replace them with your own as you go.
Changing direction. If you want to move to, say, a more data-driven style, start with examples in that style from others, then replace them one by one with your own posts in the new style.
Test and refine
- Generate a few post ideas and drafts from the theme.
- Read them aloud. Do they sound like you, or like how you want to sound?
- If not, swap one or two examples and try again.
To compare two styles, create two themes with different example sets, post from both for a few weeks, and keep the one your audience responds to.
FAQ
Can I use someone else's posts as examples? Yes. Example posts are only used to teach LigoBrain a style. They are not published or shared.
Will LigoSocial copy my examples? No. It learns patterns such as structure, rhythm and tone, and writes new posts on your theme's topics.
What if I don't like any of my existing posts? Use the Expert Library or paste posts from creators you admire, then replace them with your own later.
How often should I update my examples? Every few months, or whenever your style changes.
