How to upgrade the LigoAI Chrome Extension

2 min readUpdated Oct 8, 2026

Chrome updates the LigoAI extension automatically, usually within a few hours of a new release. If you hear about a new version and want it now, you can update it yourself in a few seconds. This guide shows the quickest ways.

Option 1: Use the update banner in the extension

LigoAI checks for new versions on its own. When one is ready, the side panel shows a banner: "A new Ligo extension version is available" with the version number.

  1. Click Update. The extension reloads on the new version.
  2. Close and reopen the side panel, and refresh any LinkedIn tabs you had open.

Click Later to hide the banner for a few hours.

Option 2: Update from Chrome's extensions page

  1. Open a new tab and go to chrome://extensions (in Microsoft Edge, edge://extensions).

  2. Turn on Developer mode in the top-right corner.

  3. Click Update in the bar that appears at the top. Chrome checks all your extensions and installs any updates straight away.

  4. Find LigoAI in the list. The version number next to its name is the one you now have.

  5. Refresh your LinkedIn tabs so the new version loads there too.

You can turn Developer mode off again afterwards.

To see what changed in each release, read the LigoAI Chrome extension change log.

If the update does not install

  1. Refresh the page you are using LigoAI on (F5, or Cmd + R on a Mac).
  2. Restart Chrome. Close every Chrome window, then open it again.
  3. Reinstall the extension. On chrome://extensions, click Remove under LigoAI, then install it again from the Chrome Web Store. Sign in again with your email and the code we send you. Your comment styles, lists, drafts and saved leads are stored in your LigoSocial account, so they come back after you sign in.

If your Chrome profile is managed by your company, your IT team may control which extensions can update. Ask them if the steps above do not work.

Still need help?

In the extension, click ... at the end of the tab bar, then Contact Support under Account. Or, in the web app, click Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then Contact Support. You can also email [email protected]. Tell us the version number you see on chrome://extensions.
