Chrome Extension Quick Fix Guide
If the LigoAI Chrome extension has stopped working, start here. These are the quickest fixes for the problems we see most, in the order we suggest trying them.
1. Check for an update banner
Click the LigoAI icon in your browser toolbar to open the side panel. If you see A new Ligo extension version is available, click Update. The extension reloads with the latest version. Then refresh your LinkedIn tab.
2. Check for a card asking you to activate your account
If a panel shows a card saying your account needs to be activated (with a card added) before LigoAI can generate comments, posts or replies, the extension itself is fine:
- Click the first button on the card. It opens Billing in the web app in a new tab.
- Add your card there.
- Go back to the side panel and click the second button on the card to recheck. The panel unlocks without signing out.
Usage (in the More menu at the end of the tab bar) stays available the whole time, so you can always check your plan.
3. Refresh LinkedIn
- Go to your LinkedIn tab and press F5 (or Cmd+R on a Mac).
- Right-click a post. You should see 💬 Generate Comments in the menu.
- The first time after a restart, the extension can take a few seconds to start. If nothing happens after about 10 seconds, click the LigoAI toolbar icon to open the side panel yourself, then try again.
4. Reinstall the extension
If the extension worked before and the steps above did not help, a clean reinstall fixes most remaining issues.
- Type
chrome://extensions/in the address bar and press Enter (in Edge,edge://extensions/). - Find LigoAI in the list. If you installed it from a link we sent you, it may be called LigoAI Private.
- Click Remove.
- Install it again from the Chrome Web Store. You can also open this link from the web app: click Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then Install Extension.
- Pin the extension (puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then the pin) so the icon is easy to reach.
- Click the icon to open the side panel and sign in:
- Enter the email you already use for LigoSocial and click Send Code.
- Enter the 6-digit code from your inbox and click Verify.
- There is no password. Do not create a new account: use the same email as before so your settings, styles and leads are still there.
- Refresh LinkedIn and right-click a post to test 💬 Generate Comments.
If the code does not arrive, click Didn't receive the code?, check your spam folder, and use Resend.
Browser requirements
LigoAI is tested and supported on desktop:
- Google Chrome (recommended)
- Microsoft Edge
It needs the browser's side panel feature. Other Chromium browsers, such as Brave or Opera, may work but are not tested, and Arc may not open the side panel. Firefox, Safari, phones and tablets are not supported. For details, see Browser and device requirements.
Common questions
I don't see the right-click options on LinkedIn posts.
Refresh the LinkedIn tab, make sure you are on a desktop computer in Chrome or Edge, and check that LigoAI is turned on at chrome://extensions/. The 💬 Generate Comments option appears on the feed, on individual posts and on LinkedIn search results.
I'm on my phone and it's not working. Browser extensions do not run on phones or tablets. Use a desktop or laptop with Chrome or Edge.
I use Firefox or Safari. LigoAI only runs on Chrome and Edge. Install one of them and add the extension there.
I cleared my browser data and was signed out. Open the side panel and sign in again with the same email and a new code.
Prevention tips
- Keep Chrome or Edge up to date, and click Update when the extension shows the update banner.
- Don't turn off the extension's site access for LinkedIn.
- Avoid running several LinkedIn automation extensions at the same time; they can interfere with each other.
Still not working?
Contact us from inside the extension: open the side panel, click the More menu at the end of the tab bar and choose Contact Support. In the web app, click Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then Contact Support. You can also email [email protected].
Please include:
- Your browser (Chrome or Edge) and its version
- Your operating system (Windows, macOS or Linux)
- The extension version shown on
chrome://extensions/ - What you see when it fails (a screenshot or short screen recording helps a lot)
