Troubleshooting Post Generation Issues
Post generation is usually quick and reliable, but now and then a post fails, takes longer than expected or does not come out the way you wanted. This guide covers what to do in each case when you generate posts from your post ideas.
How generation works
- Open your idea bank: in the default sidebar click Create Post > From my idea bank, or go to https://app.ligosocial.com/content-ideas. In the Classic layout it is WRITE > Post Ideas.
- On an idea card, click Generate.
- The post goes into the Generation Queue panel, which shows its progress.
- When it is done, click Click to view posts in the queue to open the new draft in the Publishing Hub.
The draft is based on the idea's text and the content theme the idea came from. There is no separate prompt box or length setting at this step, so to change what you get, edit the idea or the theme (see below).
"Failed to generate post after multiple attempts"
If a generation fails, LigoSocial retries automatically a few times. You only see this error, and Failed after multiple retries in the Generation Queue, when every retry failed. It usually means the AI service was busy for a moment or your connection dropped.
- Check your internet connection.
- Wait 2 to 3 minutes, refresh the page and click Generate again on the same idea.
- If it still fails, try again in 15 to 30 minutes.
A failed generation does not count against your monthly usage. Usage is only counted for posts that are generated successfully.
You have used up this month's allowance
If clicking Generate opens a dialog saying you have used up your allowance for this month, generation is paused until your allowance resets. In the dialog you can:
- Click Upgrade Plan to see your options in Billing, or
- Click View My Posts to work with the drafts you already have.
The usage counter at the top of the Content Ideas page shows how much you have left.
Generation is slow
Most posts are ready within a minute or two.
- Keep the page open and watch the Generation Queue.
- If nothing has happened after about 3 minutes, refresh the page and click Generate again.
- If it is slow every time, see "Still having problems" below.
The post looks cut off
- Open the draft in the Publishing Hub and scroll through the whole post; long posts are shortened in previews.
- If it really is incomplete, generate the idea again.
The post is off-topic or generic
The output can only be as specific as its inputs. Try these, in order:
- Edit the idea. On the idea card, click Edit, add the detail you want in the post (a key point, an example, a number, a phrase you always use), then save with the tick and click Generate.
- Sharpen the theme. Check that I write about, I write for and Background & Offering in the theme describe your expertise and audience specifically. See the content theme strategy guide.
- Improve the example posts. If drafts do not sound like you, swap the theme's example posts for ones closer to your voice. See Choosing example posts for your theme.
- Edit the draft. You can always polish the generated post in the Publishing Hub before you schedule or publish it.
Still having problems
If generation keeps failing across several ideas:
- Clear your browser cache. In your browser settings, clear cached images and files and cookies, sign in again and retry.
- Try another browser. We test the web app on Chrome, Edge and Safari.
- Try another network. A different Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot rules out connection problems.
- Check your account. Make sure your subscription is active and there are no payment problems in Billing.
Contact support
Contact us if the steps above did not help, if you see an error that is not in this guide, or if the problem lasts more than a day.
- On a computer, click the round Contact Support button at the bottom right of the screen.
- On any device, click Settings & Support at the bottom of the sidebar, then Contact Support.
- Or email [email protected].
Please include the exact error message, a screenshot, your browser and device, and what you have already tried.
FAQ
Does a long idea make generation less reliable? Very long ideas (several paragraphs) can slightly raise the chance of a slow or failed generation. Keep the idea focused and put the extra detail in the theme.
Why did it work yesterday and fail today? Load on the AI service changes from hour to hour. Short hiccups are normal and usually clear within minutes.
Do failed attempts count against my plan? No. Only successfully generated posts count.
